About this coffee
Sítio Matuto: a family microlot from Campestre
Paulo and Vilma Pereira are the third generation of coffee growers in Campestre, Minas Gerais. For decades the family sold their coffee to the conventional market. Then they joined the Legender Specialty Coffee Program, which adds a quality-based premium to their price.
That premium encouraged them to switch to selective picking, better drying and more careful post-harvest handling. “We were happy with the quality, always hearing good things about it, but we didn’t know the real potential of our coffee. What was good became even better, and showed us that we still have room to improve,” says Vilma Pereira.
What it tastes like
A soft caramel sweetness, ripe apricot and a fresh herbal note in the finish. It is a natural processed Yellow Catuaí.
What is a sítio?
A sítio is a small Brazilian coffee farm. With smaller plots, there is generally more focus on quality and more attention to detail in picking, drying and handling.
How to brew it
Sítio Matuto is part of both our Explore Espresso Box and our Explore Filter Special Box, so it works either way. It comes as whole beans in a 250 g bag. Grind just before brewing.
Microlot. Traceable to the farm. Roasted in small batches in Amsterdam.
