About this coffee
Fazenda Sertão: 100 Years Reserva
On Fazenda Sertão in Carmo de Minas, a group of Red Bourbon trees has been bearing cherries for more than a hundred years. The Pereira family has looked after these trees for generations, and this lot comes straight from them.
Processed natural, the cup opens with red fruits, settles into a sweet, full body and finishes with a gentle spice. We roast it medium light, so the fruit stays clear and the body keeps its weight.
Why it is called Reserva
Bourbon arrived in Brazil around 1860 and spread from there to other parts of South and Central America. Reserva means this is a specially selected lot, taken from the oldest and most prized trees on the estate. As with a reserve wine, the name is only given to lots with outstanding cup quality, and the quantity is limited.
