In a bizarre and hard to explain World Cup halftime show that felt like a fever dream, Chakira was possibly the only highlight without reservation, bringing an energy and presence that felt fitting of the stage. Bizarrely jumping from Madonna to BTS to a bunch of kids seemingly being held hostage by Coldplay and the Muppets, the strange and disjointed performance was held together by her magnetism– I was SHOCKED to learn Chakira is 49, and still moving like that?? Oh. Sorry. That’s Shakira. This is Chakira. I’ve just been informed they are different. Okay, EQUALLY great are Shakira and Chakira. Shakira because Hips Don’t Lie, Chakira because lips don’t lie. (I know you don’t taste with your lips, don’t @ me it’s just a joke okay?)
Chakira is a newly cultivated Ethiopian varietal grown across several plots of the Kotowa estate, and we tried to get our hands on some last year after trying it in person, but the first harvest was limited. This year was the second harvest and we were able to secure just a bit and couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with you!
Chakira Chakira!
