OoooOOOooooohhhhh it’s an exciting day- another new origin for us at Friedhats! That means new flavors, new roast profiles, cute new artwork from Ivo- what’s not to love? Andean Mountain Range, predominantly Saraguro Formation (flows into the Pacific Ocean) Landowners include: Segundo Cartuche | Jaime Cartuche | Gustavo Cartuche | Gonzalo Armijos | Isauro Salinas | Baltazar Contento | Patricio Suquilanda | Guillermo Armijos | Mesias Sandoval Climate One of the most remarkable characteristics of HLP is that all of the coffee is irrigated. This is thanks to both the perennial waterfall, Cascada San Pablo, that sits above the estate and the ingenuity of the fertilization system Juan employs. Fertilizers are mixed in controlled amounts with water. Most established lots are fertilized 4 days a week and 1 day with just water. Juan chooses to replace trees when necessary instead of stumping. Because of the irrigation system, the length of time for new trees to reach production is the same as that of stumped trees. He has an extensive nursery on site which serves to both regenerate existing blocks and nurture new varietals for future lots.
