About this coffee
ORIGIN
Colombia - Finca El Faldon
Finca El Faldon is owned by Luis Felipe Leguizamo Giraldo and his brother, both active members of the Asociación Los Naranjos in Huila, Colombia. In addition to producing specialty coffee, they also support neighboring coffee farmers in improving quality and strengthening coffee production within their community. In 2011, the farm gained international recognition after winning first place in the Cup of Excellence with a record price of $45 per pound.
Huila is located in the southwestern part of Colombia, between the Central and Eastern Cordilleras of the Andes, surrounding the Magdalena valley. The significant altitude differences in the region create diverse microclimates and different harvesting cycles. This contributes to some of the most complex and expressive coffees from Colombia.
The careful planting and processing at Finca El Faldon emphasize the clarity and structure characteristic of coffees from the highland areas of Huila. This coffee reflects both the unique terroir of the region and the family’s long commitment to quality.
We serve this coffee!
A perfect espresso recipe depends on many factors: machine, grinder, water, filter basket, beans, etc. In our bar in Den Haag, we usually start with this recipe:
19 grams of coffee for a 45 gram espresso (doubleshot).
We start with a bloom time of 25 seconds.
