Argote Blend
In May 2016, not long after Nordkapp Coffee was established, we received our first green coffee from Colombia. This coffee came from Argote, a company run by Juan Pablo Argote and his father, who both cultivate, process, and export coffee (their own coffee as well as from nearby farmers). The coffee is imported to Europe by This Side Up.
We bought 50 kg of it. The following year, we bought 60 kg of green coffee from Argote.
Since 2024, Argote also offers region-specific blends from farmers in the surrounding area. This Argote Specialty Mezcla (blend) is a mix of coffee from 6 farmers: Jesus Ceron, Marioa Argote, Asencio Munoz, Gerardo Munoz, Benedo Lopez, and Jesus Alberto Ceron. The coffee could be mixed because they all have a pleasant taste of chocolate and dried fruit, and also a touch of citrus.

Complex and fruity
This coffee is processed according to an anaerobic process. The ripened berries are soaked in tanks with water after picking. Through controlled fermentation, a certain PH value is created, after which the berries leave the tank and continue to be processed. The result is a deep, full, and complex taste that reminds of exotic fruit like durian, but also quite spicy.
Medium Roast
We roast this coffee in our Giesen W6 coffee roaster until around 205 degrees Celsius, shortly after the first crack. This way they preserve their unique character, which you can taste!
So you make the best espresso!
A good base recipe for this coffee is a ratio of 1:2 to 1:3.
This means that you use twice as much liquid as the weight of your ground coffee.
In our professional espresso machine, we use 20 grams of fine ground coffee in the filter basket. We make 40 to 60 grams of espresso in about 25 to 30 seconds. Yes, we use scales for this, which makes life easier!
